My commercial 45, which is mono and confirmed as Buddah 64, has a listed time of (2:20), but an actual time of (2:27).

Our commercial 45 (Buddah 64) has a listed time of (2:40) but actually runs (2:54)!

Deadwax info: BUD-5126 38-2 8-68

Thanks, Paul, for the great info. I will supply my 45's deadwax info next time I get to a computer.

My copy also has a listed time of 2:20 and runs 2:27.

Deadwax reads: BUD-5126-A-3A (-3) 34-2   9-68

Elsewhere in the deadwax is a machine stamped 2, and elswhere still a machine stamped P. It is a styrene pressing.

I'm fairly certain I have a vinyl pressing in a box of unsorted 45's somewhere, if i ever happen to uncover it I will see what version of the song is on it, as I never knew (well, never realized, should be the proper term) there was a longer version on 45.

I think Paul has nailed one here.
I have the Buddah single and the reissue RadioActive Gold single too.
I'll check and compare those too.

My stock copy is a Columbia Pitman styrene pressing; (2:20) stated and (2:27) actual. Deadwax: an upside-down "P"    BUD-5126-A-3A   (- 3)   34-2   9-68 and a machine-stamped "2" opposite.

Perhaps Joey Small wasn't quick enough at (2:54). :)

I was given another copy of this 45. The label has a listed time of 2:40 but it actually runs 2:54. Dead wax info is: BUD5126-1A   (handwritten) with a machine stamped 3 on the other side of the dead wax. Looks like this would be the first pressing of the record.

I just realized that I never followed up, as promised, with deadwax info for my listed (2:20); actual (2:27) version. Confirmed as Buddah 64, it is "BUD-5126A-1", with "3S-2" and "9 68" in other areas of the deadwax. Since the "9 68" info probably means "pressed in September 1968", and since this song debuted in Oct. '68, and peaked in Dec. '68, I'm thinking that my 45 copy must also be an "early 45 copy". I do not own a promo 45 for this; perhaps we could learn even more about which version radio may have played in 1968 if we could locate one.

now, this is very strange....my commercial 45 issued as
buddah 64, lists a run time on the label as 2:20 but runs
2:54!!.....the run out groove info is 'BUD 5126 - 1D' then
on the other side it has 'T/1'........so it looks like
there are three versions of this 45....
