Hi edtop40,
I have re-created this mix from 2 different sources provided. It is CD quality. Feel free to e-mail me if you are interested in the details.
Also, there were 2 different 45's issued on this. The original 45 (issued prior to "The Way It Is") was merely an edit of the LP version. The hit version we refer to was completely remixed and runs longer than the first issue.

Hi, Mark, and welcome to the board! So I guess it can be said then that the 45 version containing the LP edit is not the version that reached the Top 40? After all, "Every Little Kiss" only peaked at #72 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart the first time the single was released in 1986.

Does anyone know if 12" promo copies contain the remix or LP mix?

i have an mp3 of the version mark sent to me a long time ago of the remix and it is excellent (just need a wave file of it, mark)....my commercial 45 issued as rca 5165 states the version as "remix" and a listed run time of 5:10 and actual run time of 5:10 as well.......this is the second release of the song as mentioned above......the first 45 was issued in mid 1986 as rca 14361 and, i believe, was the lp version (someone confirm this for me)...this first commercial release entered the billboard 100 on july 26, 1986 and peaked at number 72 on august 23, 1986.......btw, this was the first 45 ever issued by the group, before "the way it is" was released......

Did promo copies of the hit "remix" version exist in a shorter length than 5:10? Seems like that would have been a been a bit on the long side for radio. Also, I don't remember hearing the solo piano intro at the time the song was a hit--my recollection is it beginning with the first piano note after the percussion had begun (about 0:31 into the song). My memory is pretty hazy though.

Actually, my TM Century GoldDisc chops off the piano intro; however, it uses the album version as the source. It's possible that you recall hearing their custom edit. It's also possible that they tried to re-create a promo version by editing the available CD version.

I don't recall ever hearing a version shorter than the 5:10 version, and after "The Way It Is" became a hit, I always heard the remix of "Kiss" when it was re-released. (But I do recall hearing "Kiss" on its first release.) Also, I don't ever recall hearing the song without the piano intro on the radio. But of course, that only speaks for Washington DC radio, which is what I would have heard at the time.

I see that yesterday there was a Bruce Hornsby release, a CD called "Playlist: Very Best Of". With many other artists in this series, they've included single mixes that had previously never been released on CD before. So I was hoping they would do the same here, like for the single mixes of "Every Little Kiss" and "Look Out Any Window" - these 2 songs weren't even included on this "Playlist" CD, and "Mandolin Rain" - this song is on the CD but seems to be an alternate version that includes Ricky Skaggs. They had a great opportunity to finally get the single versions on a Hornsby comp, and once again BMG blew it. (I'm glad I have 2 of the 3 above-mentioned songs on import CD singles [with the correct single mixes] but it would have been great if they finally got 'Every Little Kiss' right!_

Did the orignal LP edit (printed time of 4:29 on the promo 45 label) include the piano intro, similar to the remix 45?
