My commercial 45, which is mono and confirmed as Columbia 44053, has a listed time of (2:23), but an actual time of (2:27).

Pat,
You may want to examine this for an LP / 45 version
difference.
In the stereo LP, if you listen for when the vocals come
in at :12, you'll hear an organ present in the mix and
stays that way for the whole song.
But the mono mix has NO organ in the verses at all. It
is only present during choruses in the background.
And FWIW, my copy of the 45 (#44053) times out to 2:28.
And for those curious, the 45 mono mix does appear on
one CD in the database.

This sounds rare. I can only remember the version with the organ present. I don't think I have a 45 of it, but any version I ever heard had the organ.
They're originally from the Chicago area. I was watching some Chicago local band special on youtube a few months back. Neat documentary stuff!

I have 2 copies of the stock mono 45 and, as Mark
mentioned, neither of them have the organ playing the
higher octave chorded whole notes on the verses (the mono
mix only has the electric piano chorded whole notes during
the verse).

Just did a listening session comparing the stereo and mono
versions of Don't You Care. Once someone like Mark points
out the difference I can hear it real easy. For the other
54 years I never noticed the keyboard differences. Thanks
for this tidbit. Keeps me reading this board.
