Was there a special version of this song released for radio airplay? Two of the radio stations in New York play a version that is NOT the album mix. On the album mix, the Michael Jackson sample doesn't come in until about a minute into the song. The version I hear on the radio begins with a couple of beats, then quickly introduces the Michael Jackson sample for an instant, and then moves into the first verse, almost as if to let you know ahead of time "Hey, we use a michael jackson sample in this song and it sounds really awesome, so keep listening!"

I have "Can't Stop the Music" on the Now 27 CD (Sony BMG Music Entertainment 722781) and it matches your album mix description. Very often though, the Now series will include songs in their radio mix and/or edited form.

My copy is from what's now known as TM Studios and their Prime Cuts series. It's labeled as a Radio Edit and runs 4:07.

You're likely hearing a station made edit. There were two promotional CD singles for "Don't Stop The Music".
The first was released July 2007 as a club promo and features the Good Girl Gone Bad album version and nine remixes.
Radio picked up on the song in December 2007, downloads started skyrocketing and Def Jam were forced to launch a proper multi-format release, abandoning the planned issue of the track "Breakin' Dishes".
A second promo CD was issued in January 2008 and features one track, a 4:07 Radio Edit (album version faded early.)
I've heard special intro versions for almost all of her recent singles on radio here. "Umbrella" loses the Jay-Z rap by way of an edited instrumental passage. "Take A Bow" is instrumental for the first few bars losing her opening ad-libs and the vocal kicks in at the verse ("You look so dumb...".) "Don't Stop The Music" plays the first few seconds of the instrumental then the "Radio Edit" version starts over from the beginning.
These all sound rather amateur and I'd venture to say are station made edits to allow the DJs to talk without clashing with a vocal.
