MADONNA - "La Isla Bonita"

The actual commercial 45 running time is (3:58), the listed time is "4:01" on the record label. (Sire 7-28425)

The comment is indicated (dj copies of this 45 ran (3:58) (a remix) and (4:01); commercial copies were all (4:01)) on the data base. I think that the "commercial copies" coment is the listed time on the record label.

Was the "hit" version in the U.S. / the promo version
played most often, the LP version found on the commercial
45, or the "AA" side remix which showed up on the
commercial singles around the world?

A friend provided a copy of the commercial 45, and it
fades faster than the version on my CD of
"True Blue" (9 25442-2 / Sire / made in Japan / "mfd.
for RCA Direct Marketing under license" / "Mfg. by the
Victor Company of Japan, Ltd.").

It also runs a hair faster than my CD, and my friend is a
stickler for getting his turntable at the absolute
correct speed.

I cannot say what was on the original vinyl LP as I do
not have it.

FYI, there’s a digital single out today of Madonna’s “La Isla Bonita” that
contains the formerly promo-only “Remix Edit”. I haven’t purchased it yet,
so I haven’t studied the audio levels, but it doesn’t *sound* all jacked up
and bass-boosted like some of her recent single reissues have been, to my
ears anyway.

It sounds great! And I believe this is actually a new
transfer from the master tape, as the fadeout ends about one
second after it does on the 1987 Netherlands V/A CD "Hits
6." (Which is has the full-length remix edit; it's clipped
on the similarly-titled UK "Hits Album 6".)

It sounds to me like all four tracks on this digital EP are
new transfers because they all have quite a bit of dead
space and slight hiss at the end of each track. Surprising,
since several of the previous digital EPs
from her early albums were actually sourced from the Euro CD
maxis that came out in the '90s.

Brian, which "Hits Album 6" CD's are you referring to? Is
it these two?

Do you have a copy of the Netherlands one?

Johann, I have the Netherlands disc. The remix/edit is on there.

Thank you! Would like to compare it with the remix/edit on
the UK Hits 6.

Sorry, Johann, yeah, the unclipped version is actually on
"Hits 6," not "Hits Album 6." (Not confusing at all, since
those are the only two CDs in the world that this remix edit
has ever appeared on.) I'll edit my previous post.

Wasn't the "La Isla Bonita" remix/edit also a bonus cut on a Madonna
expanded CD of "True Blue" or an import CD single?

It was on the US Promo.

Dutch CD is Hits Album 6

UK CD is The Hits Album 6

The Dutch disc also has the 7" remix of Paul Simon's The
Boy In The Bubble.

The UK CD is brilliantly sequenced, possibly the greatest
one disc compilation I've ever heard.

No. It was only ever issued on the two V/A CDs mentioned above, and on the recent digital download of the "La Isla Bonita" EP.
