JR:

Took a while to locate this listing, but it's available on http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000Y3JF1I?tag=musicstack-20&camp=15309&creative=331477&linkCode=st1&creativeASIN=B000Y3JF1I&adid=15F62Q1TSQATGT5WPQQM - this import . Pricey though...not sure if it's from tape sources or vinyl dubs.

looks like a few 45's on ebay, starting at $0.99... it's a real rockin' record and may be worth the investement...

I remember getting that one as an extra track on a Dick Bartley "American Gold" show years ago.
Great tune!

The song is on a couple of Ace Records (UK) CDs: The Ikettes' CD, Fine, Fine, Fine, and the two-CD compilation issued in 1993, Kiss 'N' Tell: 30 Works Of The Heart.

the version that is on the uk ace import cd titled 'kiss
'n' tell: 30 works of heart' issued as ace cdchd 330
contains a 2:11 running version.....they cross fade the
song into the next track.......in addition, it has a
different edit than the 45 version.....the 45 runs
2:17....does anyone have the uk ace import cd titled 'the
modern records story' that they could confirm the songs run
time of 2:17 as listed in 'allmusic.com'....thx edtop40

Ed, I don't have "The Modern Records Story" CD, but I do own it on the
Ace UK CD "Fine, Fine, Fine" that Paul C referenced earlier in the thread. I
am gonna shoot you out this CD version now. Could you please compare
it against your 45, and then report back your findings whenever you get a
moment?

jim, thanks for the file....i will review it now and report
back of my findings....

Ed, forgive me, I had a brain spasm, and sent you out "Fine, Fine, Fine"
instead of "Peaches N' Cream". This version runs (2:14), but isn't cross-faded
with another track. You should now have the corrected file.....

well...the cd version jim sent me ISN'T the same as the
vinyl 45 issued as modern 1005....they're the same until
the 1:33 mark but then the break is different....the cd
version keeps the instrumental break going while the 45
version starts in with the vocals at the 1:37 mark while
this cd version starts the vocals at the 1:44 mark...'i
know i found the boy to marry, most of my life's been a
bowl of cherries'...so there is a 0:07 edit of the
instrumental break......but from the 1:44 mark of the cd
they're the same, but then the cd version fades out
earlier than the 45 version....the vinyl 45 runs 2:17 and
NOT 2:14.....our only hope is the 'modern records story'
cd has the proper version which claims it contains a 2:17
version...i hope all can understand this
description....if not i can answer any questions, or
better yet send a copy of the vinyl 45 for anyones'
review....

Ed, why is "Modern Records Story" our only hope? You sound pretty
frustrated. While what I sent you didn't match your 45, what I sent you
didn't have the same timing/mix problem as the "Kiss And Tell" UK CD
version, and surely at least had to at least be vetted. It was within :03
seconds, and quite often you'll report that you've had to slow down a
faster-running CD file to match a slower 45 speed. You're putting a heck
of a lot of faith in an Allmusic timing....

For instance, there is still another Ikettes import, from the Kent/Ace UK
family of labels. "Can't Sit Down...'Cos It Feels So Good - The Complete
Modern Recordings". It is a 2007 release, and is alleged to have used
different lower-generation tapes. Why would this disc not be a possibility
to match your 45 version?

jim, that cd could be another option...just never saw it in
the sources i reference.....we'll keep on truckin through
the options....thanks for the files you sent me!!

The version on "Can't Sit Down ... 'Cos It Feels So Good! The Complete Modern Recordings" runs 2:29 if my mp3 of it is correct.

I've never heard the mono 45 version so I can only say that I like how the stereo version on this cd sounds.

Ok, I do have the Modern Records Story import CD on Ace 784 that you're inquiring about, Ed. On it, The Ikettes' "Peaches 'n' Cream" runs very close to 2:15 (maybe about a tenth of a second shorter). It is the same version as on the Kiss 'n' Tell UK import CD on Ace 330 but, as you have previously pointed out, the song on the latter disc only clocks in at 2:11 before segueing into the next track.

well....thanks to paul for providing the file form the cd
'modern record story' and it too is NOT the correct vinyl
45 version.....like paul states....it's like the 'kiss and
tell' cd.....ohh well....now to try and get a copy of the
last cd known to have a longer version and compare that
one...the quest continues!!!

tom diehl was kind enough to send along a copy of the track
from his cd "Can't Sit Down ... 'Cos It Feels So Good! The
Complete Modern Recordings" and it's NOT the vinyl 45
version either!!....i'm sending all of these files to mark
for his review, and maybe HE can create the vinyl 45
version from the cd versions...

I'll add for Ed that the version from "Can't Sit Down...."
is the longest, and CAN be edited to match the 45. (the
sound is also awesome on that copy)

The others like the one on Ace's Modern Records Story
failed to make an edit in the middle, but they faded it
early, so the song is missing about 10 seconds of the end.

Can anyone confirm which version of this track was on their 1965 LP (that
I believe was issued in stereo) "Soul The Hits".
