Does anyone know if the correct 45 version of Jerry Butler and the Impressions' "For Your Precious Love" has ever appeared on CD anywhere that's mastered from a tape source? It seems like CDs featuring the stereo mix contain additional overdubs not found on the 45, while discs sporting the mono mix appear to be mastered from vinyl. (My gut tells me this may be a case where the single masters have been lost or destroyed.)

Todd,

The version on Ace "The Golden Age Of American Rock'n'Roll Vol. 10" is the original mono version, and, to me sounds like it's from tape. Ace is known for seeking out and finding high quality tape sources for songs that often labels in other countries can not find.

Ah... I forgot that I have the song on that disc, David. I'll check it out. Thanks!

You're right, David... It's the mono 45 version and sounds like it came from a tape source. Thanks again for the heads up!
