We got in two different promo CD singles for this song back in 1990, and here are the particulars:

Tyler Collins-"Girls Nite Out" (9174-2-RDJ)
1-(Radio Mix) (listed & actual 4:09)
2-(Remix Edit) (listed 3:47; actual 3:48)
3-(T.C. In Effect) (listed 6:16; actual 6:19)
4-(Soul IV Seoul Bite) (listed 6:02; actual 6:04)
5-(Condo Mix) (listed 6:34; actual 6:37)
6-(Full Force House Mix) (listed 6:19; actual 6:23)

Tyler Collins-"Girls Nite Out" (2558-2-RDJ)
1-(Radio Mix Edit) (listed & actual 4:04)
2-(Soul IV Seoul Edit) (listed & actual 3:55)

And since people sometimes ask me this question when I supply promo CD info like this, I will answer it now. My station played the "Radio Mix", from the first disc, on the radio when it was a current.

I don't remember this song.
What was the difference between the "radio mix" and the "radio mix edit" where they removed :05?

I have the Tyler Collins "Girls Nite Out" promo CD single containing the "Radio Mix Edit", so if I can get my hands on a copy of the "Radio Mix" I will be happy to look into the difference between the two and report back.

By the way, I inquired with Edtop40 regarding commercial single info for this song. He graciously reported back that his cassette single features the "Radio Mix" and interestingly has an actual run time of 4:04, which is :05 shorter than the same version listed on Jim's promo CD single.

Thanks to Ed who sent me a dub of his Tyler Collins "Girls Nite Out" cassette single containing the "Radio Mix", I compared it to the "Radio Mix Edit" on my promo CD single. It turns out they're exactly the same despite the slightly different descriptions. To lessen confusion for subscribers, the database should probably clarify that the "Radio Mix Edit" on the DJ CD single is actually identical the cassette single version.

I have not been able to obtain the slightly longer 4:09 "Radio Mix" Jim reported on the 9174-2-RDJ promo CD single, so I still cannot comment on what accounts for the :05 difference between it and the "Radio Mix" as it appears on the single version.

Mainrhythm was very kind to send me an mp3 of the "Radio Mix" running 4:09 as it appears on his promo CD single 9174-2-RDJ. After conducting a very careful comparison, I've come to an unexpected conclusion... It turns out the 4:09 "Radio Mix" is actually identical to the cassette single, but slower!

So the bizarre situation can now be summed up as follows:

==> The 4:09 "Radio Mix" as found on the promo CD single is the same as the cassette single, also called the "Radio Mix", but runs slower. (Both tracks fade out at the exact same point, so there is no difference in length when synched and played at the same speed.)

==> The 4:04 "Radio Mix Edit" is the same speed and length as the cassette single despite the slightly different description.

Basically we have yet another early '90s hit with messy single release details for Pat to document in the database... But at least the mystery is finally solved!
