I had raised this question in an earlier thread, but I don't think we ever got a definitive answer. What's the difference between the 45 and LP versions of Al Stewart's "On The Border" (45 runs (3:13), LP runs in the (3:17-3:19) range)? Is it editing, lyrical, mix? Or animal, vegetable, mineral?

Wow. 700 posts.

The only difference I'm aware of is that the single cuts off the first :05 or so of the intro where the piano solo fades in. I've never noticed any mix differences.

You haven't tried replicating this, have you?

Bringing this one back, any confirmation on how to create the 45 version?
