Hi, this is my first post to this very interesting group. First, Pat, I just want to thank you for the fine book and for starting this website.
Eric Records has a new volume in its Hard to Find 45s on CD series: Sweet Soul Sounds. There are a couple of top 40 songs on the collection which have not been available on domestic CD's, Denise LaSalle's "Trapped by a Thing Called Love" and Little Sister's "You're the One (Pts. 1 and 2). In addition there are longer versions of "Expressway to Your Heart" by the Soul Survivors (2:59) and "Dry Your Eyes" by Brenda and the Tabulations (3:00).
Here is the complete track list (all original 45 single versions & stereo, unless indicated): Sweet Soul Music-Arthur Conley (M), Funky Street-Arthur Conley, (There's Gonna Be a Showdown)-Archie Bell & the Drells, Just One Look-Doris Troy (M), Cry to Me-Betty Harris (M), The Sweetest Thing This Side of Heaven-Chris Bartley, Open the Door to Your Heart-Darrell Banks (M), She's Looking Good-Rodger Collins, I'm the Lover Man-Little Jerry Williams (M), Dry Your Eyes-Brenda & the Tabulations, Part Time Love-Little Johnny Taylor, Slip Away-Clarence Carter, Stand by Your Man-Candi Staton, Reconsider Me-Johnny Adams, Expressway to Your Heart (long ending)-Soul Survivors, (I Wanna) Testify-Parliaments (M), You're the One (Pts. 1 & 2)-Little Sister, Trapped by a Thing Called Love-Denise LaSalle, Somebody's Watching You-Little Sister, Love Land-Charles Wright and the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band (although the package indicates a timing of 2:45, it clocks in at 3:03, like other CD versions.)

Hi, Mike. Welcome to the board! I haven't yet picked up my copy of Sweet Soul Sounds, but I've read lots of rave reviews about it so far. And of course having "Trapped by a Thing Called Love" and "You're the One" for the first time on CD, to me, is worth the price of admission alone!
