| Aaron, off the top of my head I think I recall us getting in two different promo CD singles for "Amazed" back in '99, and I will both pull them from inventory/post all the details for you in the next day or two. |

The 7-inch single is the original "country" version from the Lonely Grill CD. The CD single (which, as Aaron states, has the "Captain's Mix" as Track One and the "A/C Mix" as Track Two) and the cassette single (which I don't have) were not released until the song became a pop hit several months after it had been a country hit.
I've always thought that the songwriters borrowed part of the melody from Bryan Adams' "Please Forgive Me". |

| My Promo Only CD runs 4:26. What is considered the "hit" version? I was PD at my college station's alternative format when the song was a hit, so I don't remember what was played in my local market. |

I've been meaning to post information regarding Lonestar's "Amazed" for quite some time, so I'm glad to see a message thread has finally been formed on the subject. As Paul C. correctly pointed out, the Lonely Grill CD consists of the album version which was the one played on country radio stations and went on to achieve enormous success on the country charts. Months after the song peaked at the country circuit, the BNA record label decided to remix and market the song for pop and adult contemporary stations (and I'm glad they did because I remember thinking at the time that this song had huge potential to be a major crossover hit and a wedding day classic!)
I have the 2-track commercial CD single and it contains the following tracks and actual run times (there are no printed times listed): 1) Amazed (Captain Mix) - 4:26 2) Amazed (A/C Mix) - 4:00 I consider the Captain Mix to be the official single version, though both mixes got a ton of airplay in my area. By the way, I believe the album version of "Amazed" appears on most of the database CD entries, though there's a chance the Totally Hits 2 disc on Warner/Elektra/Atlantic/Arista 62529 and the Dreams CD on Time-Life 24677-D may consist of one of the pop/AC mixes given that those two titles are pop artist compilations. At any rate, these CDs should really be reviewed individually to determine which version is on them. |

If anyone wants to collect the Captain Mix, it is available on NOW That's What I Call Love, track 18. That is where I got it from when I sought it out.
If anyone can correct me, I thought the AC Mix was the country mix and played on country radio and the Captain Mix was remixed specifically for POP radio which is why it went all the way to #1. The Captain Mix was the only version I heard on radio back then. |

The AC Mix is definitely different from the LP version, but I don't know which version country radio played. The LP version has steel guitars and a completely different vocal take. All three mixes (LP version, AC Mix, and Captain Mix) are noticeably different. I believe the AC and Captain mixes share the same vocal take, but the piano is a different take between the two, and the latter has a key change toward the end. Listened to the Captain Mix today and can say I've never
heard that version before or on the radio locally. If it's played on the radio, I usually hear the A/C mix. The country stations play the LP version. The Mainstream Mix is totally different from the Captain and AC mixes. Again, the vocal take is likely the same as those two mixes, but the piano is mostly gone, there are new guitars added, and the bass drum hits on every beat giving it an uptempo feel.

Also, the Mainstream Acoustic Version is different from all of the other versions mentioned so far. A drum machine has taken the place of live drums, there is no piano, and it sounds like new acoustic guitar parts have been recorded for it. Upon organizing I discovered that there is a promo which doesn't appear to be either the AC mix or Captain Mix that runs 3:45...anyone have any idea what mix this is? I don't have it and until tonight I never even realized it existed.
