although not in the db because of it's airplay only status i have a promo cd single for the song "novocaine for the soul" by eels issued as dreamworks pro-cd-4906 and it contains 2 tracks as listed below

1-radio edit (3:08)
2-radio version (3:08)

i don't have the full length cd/lp album version to compare them to.....unusual to have a radio edit & version as different tracks.....can anyone shed some light on this track??

Are they both clean? There is an f-bomb in the original uncensored version.

FYI - I unearthed the uncredited sample used at the
beginning of "Novocaine For The Soul".

It's from a Beatles knock-off record from 1964. (!)

Details, including scans and sound clips, are in my

I used to own that particular CD, briefly. I had been looking for the clean version that I had often heard on the radio and this would surely be the ultimate CD to go with. Fast-forward to the particular radio-unfriendly word in the middle of the song, and Track 1 (Radio Edit) was censored, but it did not sound like the same cut I usually heard on the radio. Track 2 (Radio Version) was not censored at all! Sadly I gave the CD away but I believe the printed runtimes were about right. I can't recall any other differences, they both sounded exactly like the album mix, save for that small, aforementioned edit to Track 1.
