I came across an odd edit of this song, and I was hoping to learn where it came from.
It's on a Canadian compilation called Rock With The '80s (PolyTel, 1990). The song runs 2:58 on this disc.
The edit removes the entire second verse (0:25-0:49 - edits on or near the word You're in "You're the only one...")
Was this the Canadian 45 version? I doubt that it was done by the PolyTel people, since there aren't any custom edits on any of the other PolyTel discs I have. And it wasn't done for space reasons - there are only 14 songs on the disc.
Any thoughts?

I've wondered the same thing! I have a similar edit on another Canadian compilation, Today's Most Requested Love Songs on Quality Records.

No, it wasn't the Canadian 45 version. I have the Canadian 45 (with its picture sleeve) and it runs 3:24, just like the US single.
Never heard of this edit.
