I have the "Radio Edit #1" version of "Picture," and I'm currently hunting for "Radio Edit #2." My old top 40 station used to play the latter version. (I have the "Radio Edit" on a Promo Only CD.)
Does anyone have the promo CD who can supply details? The version I have mutes the word "cocaine" in the first verse. Maybe I'm crazy, but I could have sworn the version we used to play had "cheap wine" in place of the word "cocaine," which is why I'm hunting for "Radio Edit #2." I think this might be the version I'm looking for.

The second verse (Sheryl Crow) contains the lyrics about "cheap wine". Are you sure the male vocal (Kid Rock) ever sang about "cheap wine" too?

I have two different, officially released CD-Rs for this song, and here are the particulars:
-Kid Rock-"Picture"
1-Radio Edit #1 (listed & actual 4:14)
2-Radio Edit #2 (listed & actual 4:09)
3-Album Edit (listed & actual 4:14)
4-Album Version (listed 4:58; actual 4:59)
-Kid Rock-"Picture" (no listed times)
1-M. Stevens Edit (actual 3:28)
2-Radio Edit 1 (actual 4:14)
3-Album Version (actual 4:58)
Aaron, I will shoot you out the "Radio Edit #2" and "Album Edit" tracks from the first disc, and the "M. Stevens Edit" from the second disc, for you to evaluate, sort out, and then eventually report back to us with your findings.

Steve, it could be that I'm completely crazy and that I'm thinking about the Sheryl Crow verse. I do know that there is some version that doesn't have a muted vocal in the first verse, like "Radio Edit #1" does. I thought that it might have been a case where alternate vocals were dubbed in. I will know shortly after I hear Jim's promo version.
Jim, thanks a ton for sending those over! I've been on the hunt for this one.

OK, I can positively conclude that my old top 40 station played the "M. Stevens Edit." Thank you for your assistance, Jim! Here are the main differences between all the different versions of "Picture":
Radio Edit #1
* :05 intro
* mutes the word "cocaine"
Radio Edit #2
* :00 intro (starts right at the vocal and sounds kind of awkward)
* mutes the word "cocaine"
Album Edit
* same as "Radio Edit #1" but does not mute "cocaine"
M. Stevens Edit
* :10 intro
* cuts the first verse in half, making an edit before "I *ain't seen the sun..." and skipping ahead to "Thought 'I wonder if I'll ever change my ways'"
* cuts the second verse in half
* leaves the guitar solo in tact

BTW, the LP version Kid Rock does with Sheryl Crow appears on her Very Best Of CD but currently is not in the online database.

Aaron. I was going to send an edit I made for your review, and perhaps you can tell me if this was the M Stevens edit. It's what we used at CKPC, and I thought it was homemade.
:)
