The Invictus 45 IS-9092 is mono and runs 3:12 (the label read 3:08).

The 45 runs slightly SLOWER and states "Produced & mixed for greater & sharper sound reproduction on the air."

I have not found this version on CD.

Another one where Mono rules. Band Of Gold also sounds murky and indistinct in Stereo. No CD issue here I am aware of either. Had to needledrop the 45 for AM use recently. .

i just compared the vinyl 45 to the cdr version i have and
they sound the same, aside from the obvious mono/stereo
differences.....i don't hear any mix differences....the 45
is edited near the end of the song which john did a great
job replicating...there is no speed issue that i can
determine...indy500 where do you hear the differences?

Ed,

Besides the edit at the end, I slowed the digital copy down
1%. I also faded the digital copy earlier to match the 45's
fade and to achieve the 3:11 run time.

I remember being a bit amused to note that on the stock 45 I bought in the summer of '71. Lots of songs over the years have had the 45 mixed differently than the album...this is the first (and only) instance I can think of where it was noted on the label.
What exactly is different about this mix?

I can't hear a great difference but I'm not very good at that anyway. Invictus was pretty consistent in producing dedicated mono mixes however.
A 1% slowing of the speed sounds about right.
