I'd been pleased with my promo CD The Top Ten Hits Of Expose (Arista ASCD-2483, 1992) for many years. Mostly 45 versions, and great sound (or as good as the late '80s synth pop is going to sound). Pretty hard to find, too.

So I'd never bothered getting the Greatest Hits (Arista 07822-18773-2, 1995) until I found it today for $1.

Did some null tests, and found out that all seven tracks on the Top Ten Hits CD are digitally identical to their counterparts on Greatest Hits. Same versions, same sound quality, same 0's and 1's.

Tracks in question:
  • Come Go With Me [LP version; 4:16]
  • Point Of No Return [45 version, same as LP version; 3:27]
  • Let Me Be The One [45 version; 4:07; lots of clipping but sounds OK]
  • Seasons Change [45 version; 4:15]
  • What You Don't Know [45 version; 4:10]
  • When I Looked At Him [45 version; 4:16]
  • Tell Me Why [45 version; 4:24]
If you've tried in vain to hunt down The Top Ten Hits Of Expose with the hope of getting the 45 versions of their hits, there's no need to. Just pick up the 1995 Greatest Hits, which has all seven tracks from Top Ten Hits, with the exact same sound quality, plus their later hits (except, bafflingly, "I Wish The Phone Would Ring"!)
