My commercial 45 (which is stereo, confirmed as WB 7499 with machine-stamped deadwax info of "N -19265- S -R E -1- 1E"), has a listed time of (3:00), but an actual time of (2:56).

Since the subject of Alice Cooper's "Eighteen" has now come up, there is a reviewer on Amazon's website who claims the song is remixed on the Greatest Hits CD (Warner Bros. 3107 and 78128) with more guitar and less harmonica in the intro. Since I no longer have a copy of the Greatest Hits disc, can someone who does have one please confirm if "Eighteen" indeed sounds like a remix?

I don't have Greatest Hits either, but do have a DJ 45 of the 1974 issue of "I'm Eighteen" (WB 8023), which states that it is taken from that album. The matrix numbers are different from the earlier hit WB 7499 issue ("WBS-8023 N19265-S - (TML logo) - 1B"). Its stated time of (2:55) differs, too.
Will report back when I compare them.

Here's what I found:
Since I have neither the Greatest Hits LP nor the CD, I can't be certain that the http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh240/YahShure/AliceCooper-ImEighteen1974remixDJ.jpg - 1974 "I'm Eighteen" single is the same as the cut on that LP, but it most definitely has a different mix than the one on my http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh240/YahShure/AliceCooper-Eighteen1971stock.jpg - 1971 "Eighteen" commercial 45 .
I didn't notice any significant guitar or harmonica differences during the intro, but the bass and percussion parts are quite different. The 1974 remix has cymbals crashing and a driving bass line from the first note; not so on the 1971 hit mix. The original mix sounds rather anemic by comparison.
