On my DJ copy, the stereo side matches the label time of 2:59, mono side, while stating 2:59 is actually 2:47. It's sped up a little but faded much sooner, which is the reason for the difference.

Thanks as always, Bill, for sharing this unique DJ 45 finding with us. I think among the very best parts of this board is that when one of us makes a discovery like this, we don't just keep it to ourselves. We go to the extra time & effort to let others know about it as well, even when we're real busy with other life stuff. I doubt I would've ever known of this earlier DJ 45 mono side fade without your kind post here, Bill. Thanks again!

Another thing, every mp3 I've ever had of the full length 2-part version has the vocal chorus and instrumental parts interpersing each other, which would naturally be the part two, since the hit part one is largely vocal, pasted on first ahead so that the Part ONE is later, likewise Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll Parts 1 and 2" (only, of course, part two of Gary's hit was the part two.)

You know you're really older when you think that younger singer Jesse McCartney's related in anyway to former Beatle Paul McCartney.

That mp3 version you have is the extended dance version.
