Merry Christmas all!

I need your advice in buying an external sound card. My new laptop only has a poor OEM audio input so I'm looking for an external interface. Any recommendations? The Digidesign M-Box line looks promising, but can it be used with non-Pro Tools applications? Anyone have any experience with this or any other external unit?

I'd get myself an M-Audio external interface or get a Edirol external interface here. Both are very nice on a budget.
