Forgive me is this has been discussed in a previous thread; my search didn't turn up anything.
http://www.discogs.com/Daryl-Hall-Someone-Like-You/master/222118 - Disogs.com turns up a 45 with an edit featuring a guitar solo on the A side and a sax solo on the B side.
http://en.allexperts.com/q/Hall-Oates-472/saxaphone-solo.htm - This post confirms the 45 edit, available on 7" & 12" with identical edits, but no CD releases of these mixes / edits.
The album version can likely be edited down to the single version A-side, but I distrust the listed time of 4:07 due to the video running about 4:30 - 4:45.
Additionally, I find no sax solo in the album version, leading me to believe this is audio unique to the B-side of the single.
Scrolling through http://www.hallandoates.de/Singles%201985-1989.htm - this fan page discography you'll find a promo 12" called "Daryl Hall - The Classic Ballads" (Promo 12", Catalog No.6243-1-RDA1, 1986), referencing the "sax solo mix" on the A-side.

OK, my suspicion, following the music video soundtrack, is that the 7" (guitar mix) is likely 5:07, not 4:07... I re-created the video soundtrack by editing down the album version & came up with a file that's 5:05 in length after deleting leading & trailing silence.
This is not the easiest of edits to create, BTW!
At about 3:04 you have to run the solo under the vocals for about 10 seconds... took a while to get the balance just right.
There's a second edit at about 3:51 (in your previously edited file, trimmed / mixed as listed above) and then the natural fade of the CD version takes you to the end of the music video, & times right out almost to the second to what is listed on the 45 label if you add a minute.
As long as it remains posted, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0XqQOuUhg0 - this is the video I used as a reference to edit my album version; hopefully that will help you get the song down to the single version.
FYI: It spent 8 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 pop charts in 1987, entering at #92 on January 24th & peaking at #57 on February 21st of the same year. It spent its last week on the Hot 100 at #100 on March 14th.
Oh, and one MORE thing: It was written by D. Hall, T. Walk, and D. A. Stewart... yes, Dave Stewart, of Eurythmics fame.

I have the commercial 45 of Someone Like You on RCA 5107-7 R.
the Guitar Solo side runs 4:18 (listed time 4:07)
the Sax Solo side runs 4:16 (listed time 4:07).
If you want I can shoot you off MP3s of both.

Wow... I totally missed that one! :) I look forward to hearing where and how they edited it... and in particular, what the sax solo sounds like.
With all the compilations, box sets & best-ofs, I can't figure out why at least one of them couldn't contain one or both of these.
Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the heads up EternalStatic. The Guitar Solo version is now also up on Daryl's Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vqBmXcVSjo - Someone Like You (w Guitar Solo)
The good news is that it's the actual single version, which is a unique mix - not just an edit. There are some breathy synth voices overdubbed on the intro at 10 seconds in, and again at 24 seconds in. And right before the second verse starts, there's an additional falsetto note from Daryl at 1:53.
Now that they've done the first two singles from the 'Three Hearts' album, fingers crossed the UK single mix of 'I Wasn't Born Yesterday' comes next - one of my favorite Daryl-solo songs. A few months back I uploaded my 45 rip to Youtube because it wasn't available online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMzo-Ks386k - I Wasn't Born Yesterday (UK Single Mix)
