my commercial 45 for the eagles song "hotel california" issued as asylum 45386 states the run time as 6:08 and is just an early fade of the full length 6:27 cd/lp version....if you fade from 5:51 to 6:08 you will effectively re-create the 45 version...this 45 run time info s/b added to the db....

So does anyone have a copy of the promo edit? I assume there was one, or maybe WLS did their own edit. I remember the intro was the first 25 seconds. Unfortunately, that's all I remember...

I happen to have a copy of the promo 45 in my possession at the moment. The mono side runs 6:07. I haven't timed the stereo side, but I assume it's the same as the commercial 45. Neither side has an edited version.

Well, that answers that question. Thanks, Aaron!

I'm not aware of a promo edit of any Eagles song (though some members' 80s solo hits did...Don Henley especially).

I think you're right, Hykker. I have several Eagles promo 45s in my
possession at the moment, and the versions all seem to match the
commercial 45 edits. They are all mono/stereo with the same length/edit on
both sides. The one exception is "Lyin' Eyes," which has the long LP version
on the stereo side and the short commercial 45 edit on the mono side.
I haven't done any real close comparisons between the mono and stereo
sides, but I would guess that the mono versions are fold-downs. I did
notice, though, for instance, that the mono side of "Best Of My Love" fades a
second or two earlier than the stereo side. There may be others where the
mono side runs slightly shorter than the stereo.

Almost positive WLS' edit was their own (I'm also almost positive that in the edit in the intro they cut to the last guitar note before the drumbeats prior to Henley's vocal).
