my commercial 45 for the moody blues song "i know you're
out there somewhere" issued as polydor 887600 states the
run time on the label as 4:15 and does indeed run that
length....i found the proper edit on "the singles+" import
2 cd set....all the domestic cd's contain the 6:35 lp
version....this 45 run time info s/b added to the db....

My promo copy (Polydor 871 270-7DJ) has the 6:37 version on it. One side's in English, the other Spanish.

Wow, that's interesting that your promo single not only doesn't have the shorter, more "time-friendly-for-radio" single version, but that the Moody Blues elected to record a Spanish version. I can't say I've ever heard the latter version on the radio.

By the way, Hykker, is your promo single on CD or vinyl?

*CORRECTED INFO*

FWIW, I checked to see if the LP version (from "Gold") could be edited to match the single version.

It CAN.

It's one simple edit, approximately 2:36 - 4:57.

I say approximately because he sings the line, "and somehow I'll return again..." so identically in the two edit points that I can't be confident where it jumps... just be to the new location by the time he sings, "...to you."

Thanks to everybody who had the patience to gently correct me when I originally posted the edit couldn't be done. I will also delete my other nonsense below.

Sorry for the slow reply. It's a 45. Here's a http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff73/hykker/ikyots-sp_zpsc99a0c67.jpg - label scan of the Spanish side.

NightAire, could you please explain what you mean by "The repeat of the
first verse with extra vocals...". Maybe provide what those vocals are, or
timings. thanks.

NightAire, if you don't mind, can you also tell us which segment of the single version cannot be found on the album version? (Like, is it a small 1-second snippet after chorus 2?)

Does anyone know if the Spanish version has ever appeared on CD or CD-single? This was '88 so hopefully so.

NightAire,

Please listen to the LP version starting at 5:12. Are not these the lines from
the single version you quote above? Seems they simply edited out the verse
after the instrumental break (which is also itself edited).

David, I am now baffled. You are correct. My only potential excuse is that I have been fighting massive allergies... still, I don't know how I messed it up this badly... and twice, no less!

To try to reduce confusion, I plan to go back and edit my original post to indicate what can be done... after I am 100% sure what can be done (and I assume it CAN be edited from the album version... indeed, the verse, with the high range echo, are all there).

This is extremely embarrassing for me.

Thank you for not letting go of this until we get it right. I'm still at a loss to explain how I didn't listen through this fully and hear this final verse was there.

I sincerely apologize for the confusion, and I'll try to start making this right, tomorrow.

No worries, Gene. We're all human and make mistakes. You contribute great info on this board, and that's what counts!
