I don't have any of the cd's listed in the database for Skeeter Davis' 1960 song, "(I Can't Help You) I'm Falling Too". I do, however, have an Ace import entitled "The Answer To Everything - Girl Answer Songs of the 60s". The import does not have the single version, as my mono 45 (RCA Victor 47-7767) has Skeeter Davis' vocals double-tracked pretty much throughout the first verse and chorus (the import cd, with the song in stereo, does not).

My question, therefore, is:
Are there any cd's that have the correct single version? Hopefully this is just an oversight on the one cd.

Thanks!

Jon O.

Hi
I can only verify that the CD "RCA Country Legends" for
her the song is in stereo and does indeed have the
double-tracked harmony vocals in the first verse and
pretty much thru-out. So it seems the Ace CD has that
unique mix.

I also checked a few online Best-of's, and they too have
the same version as that RCA CD..except one;
"The Best Of Skeeter Davis" a 2010 mp3-only set, has it
in mono, and run 2:36. It is sped up a lot.
All the stereo ones are about 2:46, and run slower.

Was wondering if the mono 45 is also running faster and
the 2:36 length?

My 45 times out at 2:43, and runs the same speed as the stereo version I have on the Ace cd, which I assume is the same speed as the other stereo versions. I should add that on the Ace cd (Answer Songs), the song runs 2:43 also. Usually Ace is pretty good about getting the correct versions, which is why I'm a bit surprised when they don't (such as on the "Dot Cover to Cover" cd in which they left the lead vocal off of the Mills Brothers' "Get A Job").

Thanks for responding, MM. I'm glad to know there are cd's with the appropriate 45 version out there, it seems.
