I recently picked up the 45 (Atlantic 89586) for this song, and to
my surprise, it's different from the original LP and the CD versions.
The whole song is mixed with more echo (especially evident on the
bridges). Also, the crazy guitar solo at the 1:08 mark is a different
solo (the LP solo has each little section end on a high note, and the
45 version has every other section end on a low note) , and fades in
from center, rather than starting out in the left channel.
The LP and CD versions are pretty much the same. Looks
like another single mix to look for on CD, dad-gummit! I don't have
the Time-Life and Flashback CDs to compare.

yes....i agree........the 45 is slightly different.....all the breaks are in the correct spots except it does sound as if they've added additional instrumentation and reverb.............

I had a brief conversation a while back with Ed about the Firm's "Radioactive" but I never got around to comparing the 45 and LP versions. Maybe Pat can check the song on his Guitar Rock - The Heavy '80s (Time-Life R968-18) and Guitar Rock: Awesome '80s (Flashback 78168) CDs and let us know if the song differs from the version on The Firm's self-titled CD? If not, then of course we can add the 45 version of "Radioactive" to our M.I.A. list.

Good ears folks. The sad report is that all cd's currently in the database contain the LP version of this song.

Does anyone know if the 45 version has ever popped up on any imports? This is another one I've had trouble tracking down for my collection. Thanks!
