my commercial 45 for the jermaine jackson song 'you're
supposed to keep you love for me' issued as motown 1490
states the run time on the label as 3:52 but actually runs
3:44...you can effectively recreate the true vinyl 45
version by fading the 3:48 'greatest hits and rare
classics' cd version for 0:14 from 3:30 to 3:44....thanks
todd for helping on the re-creation of this one...THANKS!!

The on-line database indicates that the 45 version of "You're Supposed to Keep Your Love for Me" runs ~(3:48), while the LP version clocks in at ~(5:34). So is the 45 version an edit or remix of the LP version??? Or perhaps this is even one of those examples where Pat uses the "version" designator in the database even though it's actually just an early fade, like w/ "Owner of a Lonely Heart", "Slow Ride", "Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel", etc. (as aaronk pointed out he sometimes does)???

I realize the 45 version can be had on several CDs, so I'm not looking for a complete dissection, although because no one has ever asked about this on the chat board before, perhaps others may be interested...
