my commercial 45 for the guy mitchell song 'rock-a-billy'
issued as columbia 40877 does not list a run time on the
label but runs 2:11...the cd version on 'sunshine guitar'
which runs 2:09, is NOT the same version as the vinyl
45....pat, you might want to compare the two to see how to
qualify the 2:09 running version...

Thanks for the heads up, Ed, because I only have Guy Mitchell's "Rock-a-Billy" on the Sunshine Guitar CD (Collectables 6030) you cited. Hopefully, one of the other database CDs or an import disc has the correct version of this Billboard Top 10 hit. If not, I'll be disappointed.

Ed, I am shooting you out the version of "Rock-A-Billy" that I have on the
Collectors' Choice 2-CD set "The Definitive Guy Mitchell." Could you analyze
it against your 45, see if they are the same or different, and report your
findings to us?

Pat:

I don't know if you've had an opportunity to individually examine each of the other database CDs containing Guy Mitchell's "Rock-a-Billy", so if there is no "alternative take" comment listed next to these CD entries, then should I take that to mean they do indeed consist of the correct hit version?

Correct
