The database currently notes that commercial 45 copies of Tommy James' "Draggin' The Line" contains the mono mix. I thought I'd also report the actual commercial 45 run time is 2:41, not 2:45 as stated on the label. (Thanks to Jim for yet another helpful assist.)

This song was first the b-side for the single "Church Street Soul Rival" (a minor hot 100 charter) and then six months later it was issued as an a-side. My question is were both versions of "Draggin' The Line" the same?

Nope. The B-side version is a different, earlier mix without the horn overdubs.

Quite a few differences in addition to the horns. To my
ears, it sounds like the only stereo content is what was
added to the hit version.

Steve, I totally agree. Always sounded to me like they put the original mono B-side mixdown in one track then added all the overdubs we hear in the left and right channels.
Too bad they then decided to add the horn echo on the stereo mix. I recall thinking that sounded funny when I first heard the stereo.

The mono version to me has always been the hit mix. Never
really been a fan of the stereo version, even though
that's all you heard on the radio for decades. Nowadays,
you don't hear the song anymore alt all except for
SiriusXM.

Westwood One's "Good Time Oldies" format still plays this
one....in fact they use the "hit" version. Hard to believe!
