Was there an official U.S. promo edit of "Patience"? According to this Guns N' Roses discography, there was a U.K. promo 45 with the "Edit Versiion": http://gunsnflowers.com/Disc_patience.htm - http://gunsnflowers.com/Disc_patience.htm
I have a 1989 aircheck of WLOL-FM/Minneapolis where they play an edited version, clocking-in at 4:07 (it is significantly pitched up, though--at the LP speed, it would be about 4:23). Does anyone have a needledrop of the UK promo 45 that I could compare to the version I have on tape?

I'm sure this has been documented elsewhere, but Guns N' Roses strongly opposed any edited versions of their songs. Aside from "Sweet Child O' Mine," I believe Geffen was not permitted (at least in the US) to officially release any edited versions of their songs. This is why the "November Rain" edits were issued by Hitmakers.

For "Patience," my US promo CD single contains the full LP version. If radio stations were playing edited versions, I'd bet they were done in-house or shared by other stations/promoters.

When I saw this topic earlier a couple hours before Aaron
responded, the first thought I had was if there was a promo
edit it would have been on a Hitmakers release for radio.
That said, was the edit on one of the Hitmakers CD's?

Just did a Google search for the GEF56DJ Promo 45 from the
UK. It's out there for sale but certainly not cheap at
around $49.00.

There appears to be an edited version of Patience. Anyone know if it has appeared on CD in the UK or on any international comps? I would be interested in finding it. Have no idea how to even recreate it...

That's the UK DJ 45 I referenced back in 2013. I've
founf that there are shorter edits of many songs
available in the UK only, some for length and other for
lyrics. This must be one of them.

Rich,

I have an mp3 of the edit. I don't remember if someone
sent it to me or if I recreated it myself from a vinyl
dub. I know I didn't purchase the UK DJ 45 for 49.00.
