Does anyone know if the above song, featured on Rhino's "Love/Death/Travel" (a Doors box set), contains the single mix of "Touch Me"? Rhino tends to favor single mixes, so I'm hoping this will be a first for this rare single mix.

The Doors do not allow the 45 singles out the door.

I have an mp3 from the Skyline sight that claims to be the single mix. Interested?

I always liked the single mix on this song, but several years ago i gave my copy of the 45 away to a high school friend along with a few Ray Stevens 45s he wanted from me...now i sort of wish i had all of them back, hah.
I too had downloaded the mp3 from Skyline (it indeed was the original single mix) but i no longer have it (my mp3s have a habit of disappearing from my computer after i burn them to cds for friends....and forget to back them up for myself).

I'd be interested. I joined Skyline too late to have access to that file.

I have the single mix on CD-R as transferred from a "minty" vinyl 45. The mix is somewhat different. To my ears, the vocals are more "wet", higher up in the mix and the percussion is also higher up in the mix. The single mix is sans the whispered "stronger than dirt" phrase at the close of the track. I prefer this mix to the commonly available LP mix.

I've reposted the stereo 45 version of "Touch Me" in The Collector's Corner on the Skyline site. This is newly remastered from an original VG+ stock single.

I don't know what the big deal is about the single versions of these songs.
So what if their released.
They act as if their stuff is some kind of holy grail.
Bob is correct with the sound of "Touch Me" and the lack of the "stronger than dirt" line at the end.
If I'm not mistaken "Riders On the Storm" has a different single mix along with an edit.
I appreciate this site.

A bit of a contradiction there? I'm not sure if your first comment is refering to people who want to collect them on cd, or artists refusing to let them get out on cd.....

Tom,
Its the latter.
I'm a single version junkie too.
Please don't take offense.
The Doors are the ones who have some kind of "problem"
releasing single versions.
We'll all have to find clean vinyl.

The digital Rhino store has now put up a single called:
Doors - Touch Me (Take 3)
Does anyone know what this is? It's in lossless quality, so it would be great if this is the single mix. But from a description like "Take 3", I doubt it. At least it's not the typical album version that they always use!

I wondered about that, too!

The running time is (3:40). The single version I have courtesy of JMD runs (3:14).
It might be the single mix, but the running time's too long to be the correct single version.

"Touch Me (Take 3)" first appeared as a bonus track on the 2007 remaster of the The Soft Parade CD. As the database correctly indicates, this is an alternate take. As far as I know, the 45 and LP versions are not different takes but different mixes made from the same take.
