has anyone tried, successfully, to edit the 8 minute cd/lp version down to the 45 version????

I've never tried that (of course I don't have the LP version so I couldn't do it anyway). Are you suggesting from your question that the version found on the Casablanca Records' Greatest Hits CD isn't the 45?

correct..........as the database states, that version is an unsuccessful attempt at re-creating the 45 edit..........

my commercial 45 for the giorgio moroder song 'chase'
issued as casblanca 956 lists the run time on the label as
3:38 but actually runs 3:36.....thanks aaron, for the edit
you did, it's perfect.....THANKS!!
