If memory serves, I believe the LP version has steel guitars in the instrumentation, while the 45 does not. ------------- Doug --------------- All of the good signatures have been taken. |

I have both the LP and 45. The LP is a country styled version of the song as
stated, with steel guitars. But the 45 version has replaced the steel guitars with a piano and an orchestra. Is that single version available anywhere, on a comp? Update: There is a single edit on CD, I have it in my collection and can verifiy that it is available. |

my 45 is the same version that is found on the cd "greatest hits (and more)".........anyone need a copy of either the 45 or the cd version.... ------------- edtop40 |

I am hoping somebody can help me with this..I know there is a single version of this song out there...I remember hearing it and you are all referring to it. I have the following CD's with the song on it:
Juice Greatest Hits And More Juice/Quiet Lies (Raven Records) Greatest Country Hits I don't know if it's my ears or what, but they are all the same versions. Does anybody have the 45/radio version of this song or know where it appears on CD? Thanks! |

The first pressings of the LP have the steel guitar solo and the original mix. When the track started getting pop airplay, this track was remixed by Capitol and second pressings of the LP onward and the single had the new, common mix. The original mix so far has not appeared on CD to the best of my knowledge. I have both a first pressing LP and a later pressing of the Juice LP. ------------- I turn up the good and turn down the bad! |

It's disappointing that both of the re-issues of the "Juice" album on CD that I have don't include the original version of The Sweetest Thing. It's a very pretty song in either version, though. :) |

| This string is awesome. "Angel of the Morning" was my favorite song when it was out (my last semester in high school) and because everyone else was into hard rock, I kept quiet about it. Never thought I'd see a running commentary on how great Juice is/was. :-) There was just something about her voice that really resonated with me. I loved every one of her singles through her career. Richard Landis was a perfect producer for her - he brought out the best in her voice and surrounded her with very sympathetic productions. |

Hey everyone, I came across a cool release featuring three of Juice's early 80's albums on CD that apparently sound better than what has been released before.....

Thanks for passing along this information, Dale! I have to say though that whenever I see an Amazon reviewer rave about the sound quality on a modern day CD release, I can't help but wonder if these CDs were simply mastered with the typically LOUD and highly compressed audio levels that lead some listeners into thinking they're hearing "outstanding" sound. (I realize this kind of mastering might sound good to some, but not to those of us who prefer a more fully intact dynamic range.)
Have you received your copy of the Juice Newton 2-CD import set yet, Dale? If so, can you please report your opinion of the sound quality? |

| Dale, there's an early version of "The Sweetest Thing" that's been released on many Juice Newton CDs - it was the first version she recorded - in the late '70s (possibly under the moniker "Juice Newton & Silver Spur"). I've never heard of THREE versions of this song, but is that what you're saying? Are you saying this alternate version is different from the early version on a number of CDs? |

The first version was on Juice and Silver Spur's first album from 1975. She re-recorded it with a much larger, slicker arrangement on her Juice album from 1981. The version on that was a little more "country" sounding than what later became the single version. Are you confused yet? LOL! |

For those looking for original mix LP versions of "Juice" on vinyl, look for F4 or earlier deadwax. My copies, early and revised both cut by Wally Traugott at Capitol Studios. ------------- I turn up the good and turn down the bad! |
