Thanks for the heads-up, Brian.

Finally, the single version of "Rock-A-Lott" makes its debut on a commercial release. I see there's both a radio edit and a single mix in the tracklisting. Not sure what the difference between the two is, but I'm looking forward to finding out.

Also looking forward to the different mixes of "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)".

Actually, the extended version of "I Knew You Were Waiting" recently hit CD for the first time on So 80s volume 8. But these whopping expanded versions were long overdue!

What is the difference between the 7" mix and the LP
version of "I Knew You Were Waiting"?

I was wondering that myself.

I finally received my copy of the Deluxe edition of 'Aretha' today after numerous delays.

The compilers obviously realised that there isn't a difference between the two because the so-called 7" mix isn't on the actual product. Only the LP version, the Instrumental version, the Extended Remix, the Edited Remix and the Percapella version are included.

I purchased this CD set in the hope of acquiring the 45 version of Rock-A-Lott. However, despite there being a "Single Version" and a "Radio Version" included, neither of them match my vinyl 45. My 45 runs about 4:13, while the so-called "Single Version" and "Radio Version" on this CD set run 4:39 and 5:30 respectively.

Does anyone have the 1987 US promo CD for Rock-A-Lott? I'd like to know the running time for the "Single Version" on that disc to determine whether it matches my commercial 45, or if it is the same as either of the versions on the deluxe 'Aretha' CD set.

Thanks.

I didn't have this promo CD in my collection, but I just won a copy on
eBay. When I receive it, I'm happy to post the details.

Also, it looks like the 12" single has the "Single Version" and "Street Mix
- Radio Edit" with printed run times of 4:39 and 5:29 respectively. It
would appear that the new disc has those two versions.

Aaron, thanks for your reply.

Nice score on the promo CD. I appreciate your offer of reporting back with further details once you receive it.

Here's hoping it does contain the 4:13 version.
