While I didn't need another Who complilation, the double CD of "The Who Hits 50" does give you a couple of hard to find versions in one place:
"Call Me Lightning" is the mono single mix (finally)
"Magic Bus" is the long version originally heard on the vinyl Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy, in mono not electronic stereo like the vinyl. (First time issued here on CD)
"Join Together" is the original 45, not the remix with the added flute that keeps popping up on compilations.
"Happy Jack" is mono, not phoney stereo
"The Seeker" is the original 45 mix
"The Relay" is full length
Other comments, "Boris the Spider" claims to be a new mix but sounds like the same stereo mix from the Canadian "Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy" CD. This compilation also includes "Dogs" which normally doesn't pop up on Who compilations.
Some small disapointments:
Uses the single edit of "Won't Get Fooled Again"
Uses the British single edit of "Who Are You" (This is often issued on compilations)
"See Me Feel Me" is sliced off the Tommy album, it doesn't sound like the 45 which features more compression (As heard on "Then and Now") and this issue has the song starting a note too late.

On "The Who Hits 50", "Won't Get Fooled Again" sounds like an edit of the LP version in an unsuccessful attempt
at re-creating the 45 version. The most obvious difference is the edit at 3:03 where there should be a drum hit
right before the loud Yeeaaaaaaaaaaah!
The Who Hits 50 edit is a cleaner edit, removing that drum hit. In addition, to my ears, the 45 is a different
mix. If you compare the Who Hits 50 edit to the 45 you'll note that the bass is easier to locate on the 45 mix,
clapping is more centered and louder on the 45 at 1:15 than the Who Hits 50 edit, same with the handclaps at
1:43. Plus the reverb sounds different on the 45 mix, as if it was a different unit than the LP mix.
But regardless, the edit difference in front of the "yeeaaaaahhh" is enough to declare it an unsuccessful
attempt, and the entire track sure sounds like the LP mix verses what you'll hear on the 45 or the 45 edit on
the CD "Who's Better Who's Best which to me, DOES match the 45.
