It's not noted in the database for the Grease Megamix,
but there is a U.S. Promo CD Single listed on Discogs:
Polydor ‎PRCDP 00326 with a radio edit as track 1.
Listed time is 3:57.

I have the radio edit on Top Hits U.S.A. and it runs
3:58. Anyone with a promo CD single with an actual run
time?

(There are several edits to recreate the radio edit.)

jimct and I have different promo CDs for this one, although the audio contents are the same.

Advance CD Pro (no catalog number)
1. Radio Edit (3:57 listed; 3:58 actual)
2. Thorman/Dutrey Mix (4:26 listed & actual)
3. Full 7" Version (4:51 listed; 4:48 actual)
4. 12" Version (5:52 listed; 5:50 actual)

PRCDP 00326
1. Radio Edit (3:57 listed; 3:58 actual)
2. Thorman/Dutrey Radio Edit (4:26 listed & actual)
3. Album Version (4:51 listed; 4:48 actual)
4. 12" Version (5:52 listed; 5:50 actual)

Between the first issue and second issue, Polydor changed the name of the mixes for tracks 2 & 3, but they are identical on both CDs. Both discs also state that track 3 is "taken from the forthcoming Polydor album Pure Disco."

My station always played track 1, which contains the "Greased Lighting" part of the medley, complete with the line "she's a real pussy wagon." Despite the explicit lyrics, I don't ever recall us getting a complaint about the song. I even played this version at several school dances back in the '90s, and again, no school administrators or parents ever came up to take issue.

Track 2 on the promo CD, the Thorman/Dutrey Radio Edit, is an alternate edit of the 12" Version. This edit leaves in only the clapping part of "Greased Lighting" and then transitions into "Summer Nights." I suppose this version may have received some airplay by stations who were concerned about the offensive line.

As a side note, I once played a request specifically for "Greased Lightning" at a DJ event, and I had forgotten that the full song contains another offensive line in the verse first :)

Luckily, the clean version of Greased Lightning is on
the Deluxe Edition of the Grease Soundtrack.

On the topic of Greased Lightnin' - was the "clean"
version of the song only issued on the promo 45 or did
the commercial 45 also have the clean version?
