Looked for a thread on this and couldn't find one, which means there obviously is one.

My only source for the LP version of this song (have the 45 version on a couple of comps) is the Capitol 1940-2002 box set. However, this version fades
in, whereas I believe the correct LP version starts cold like the 45. Is that indeed the case?

Yes, the LP version starts cold. My source is the LP Best Of Tavares as
well as the CD version of the same album.
