Ed and I were talking and he is still searching for a 3:27 Radio Edit of Midnight by Coldplay. The only place that has such a listing is wikipedia, and they are not always the most reliable.

If anyone here knows of the version existing and where they got it from, please share. Otherwise I would consider this like one of those radio edits that does not exist. Discogs has no listing and even youtube has no radio edit of Midnight. Thanks everyone!

I'm not sure "Midnight" was promoted to US radio stations, so if there was a radio edit, it would've likely been of UK/European origin.

Ed's been insisting for quite some time that wikipedia has it, so it must exist. Well at least we can put this one to rest.

Yeah, but Wikipedia's always 100% correct, right? :)

Yes, about 90% of the time!

It may exist, like Ed insists, but I'm not certain it was ever released to US radio stations. I don't ever recall hearing the song on any local stations, despite it peaking at #29 on the Hot 100. Did it chart due to sales and streaming when the album was first released?

That's it. AFAIK, never promoted to radio.

That's why I am pretty sure a radio edit does not exist. No listing on discogs and no overseas listing even has a radio edit to match the 3:27. I never even heard the song on the radio.

I think it's possible a UK radio edit was serviced to UK stations digitally.
Discogs is far from complete, especially when talking about digital-only
promo releases. I'm sure I have hundreds of radio edits not listed on
Discogs that were only released digitally to US stations. "Midnight" is
not one of them, though.

I own whole CDs that aren't even on Discogs!

But regarding "Midnight," yeah, if there was a 3:27
radio edit, it was not issued commerically. I bought
the UK stand-alone digital single from Qobuz when it
came out, and it was the album version.

And you're not spending every waking hour creating release pages for
those discs?!? ;)

LOL. I probably should. I've added a few. I added the
late '80s CD maxi single of "Red Red Wine," the one that
has the B-side instrumental called "Sufferin'," which is
available nowhere else. But funny, after I added it,
numerous people said they had it in their collection, so
maybe it's not as rare as I thought. (All I know is it
took me two years to get a copy.)

so, do we have any UK enthusiast that can chime in
regarding a possible digital uk radio edit release?
