just out of dumb luck and circumstance...tonight, i was
inquiring about the instrumental version of the linkin
park song 'somewhere i belong' from 2003 because i
recently found out it is the theme song of conservative
talk show host, mark levin's radio program.....gary sent
me his 'single version' and NOT the instrumental version
from the promo cd single and it has a slightly different
intro than the version i have...his version doesn't have
the falling, dripping intro from the version i
have....my guess is i must have the lp version and maybe
the falling, dripping intro is from the proceeding track
on the lp/cd...anyone familiar with this song that could
shed some light?

Ed, your guess is exactly right. The previous track on Meteora slightly overlaps the intro of "Somewhere I Belong." On the promo release, the intro is not segued. As far as I know, an instrumental was never released on any CD singles.
