The stock and first-issued promo 45s have a stated time of (3:49), but actually run (4:03). A few weeks later, in comes a second promo for it, loudly blaring "NEW MIX" on the left side of the label, and "NEW EDIT" on the right. Listed time is (4:36), says (Edit/Remix) just below it, and actually runs (4:39). First promo only specified (Edit).

Just got a stock 45 in for this. Would've edited the LP version had I found Ron G.'s post in time. Listed time of the stock concurs with Jim's findings. Listed is 3:49; actual is 4:03. Deadwax is 7-28531-A-SH1

Not sure which of my posts you're referring to, so here are notes from "Let's Go":
My preferred version comes from the Mosaic CD. I didn't take detailed notes as to which sections to grab from the LP version, but the final mixdown has edits at 3:24, 3:36 and 3:47. It has a running time of 4:07, including outro silence (don't know how long it is without the outro silence). You can also raise the levels 3 dB without clipping.
My notes also say that Time-Life's Modern Rock 1984-1989 (2000) is digitally exactly 1.5 dB quieter than both Sounds Of The Eighties 1987 (1995) and Rock On 1987 (1996); all are too loud and clip.

Bumping up this thread for Doug....

Just realized this thread existed. I had a copy of the
45, that ran 4:03, and I have since misfiled it.
Since I can't locate my 45, my question from the other
"Let's Go" recreation thread, is: Does the 45 fade
earlier, or a new question, does the 45 run faster?

Is the 4:39 New Mix / New Edit Jim identified above ACTUALLY a new mix, and does anybody know which edit / mix radio played most at the time?

Gene,
I just listened to the 4:39 NEW MIX and that is definitely
not what I heard and played on the radio in 1987. We
played the 45 version that runs 4:03.

The “New Mix” on the re-serviced 45 is an edit of “Shep’s Mix” 12” version.
(It also has what sounds like a bad edit at about four seconds in, where the
cut to bring the kick drum in was about one percussion tick too late, but
otherwise it’s a fun edit.)
