LeAnn Rimes' compilations are the only places I have
ever heard "Written In The Stars' with the vocals
reversed - she sings first, then Elton. Was this
version ever released or promoted as a single? Based on
the actual play, "Aida," what order should they be
singing this?

It's on my 3 track CD Written in The Stars single listed
as "alternate version - Leann sings first verse". I
believe this version was serviced to some country
stations at the time. The 3rd track is a sampling of
snippets from the AIDA album.

I'm presuming the 'hit' version was track 1 on the CD
single with Elton singing first?

I would say it was. It was what I heard on the radio and with it being Track 1 on the single, it was obviously what the record company expected to be the hit.

Yes, track 1 was the more common version as heard in the
promo video (which I remembered getting tons of airplay
on VH-1 back when it was new).

Yes, the Elton first version was the only one I ever
heard played on the radio. I was not even aware there
was a LeAnn first version until hearing her "Greatest
Hits" album. (Curious if any country station ever
played this - it sure would have been a stretch for that
format!) Who sings this song first in the actual play -
the male or female character?
