Great tune in '93 and received a fair amount of airplay thanks to the accompanying music video.

Does anyone have the promo CD single and could post the listed vs. actual times?

I have this, and I'll try to post details later today
when I have a chance to retrieve the disc.

I have the promo CD right in front of me, as I had
recently ripped the "Remix" versions for my USB flash
drive, so here's what I have for you:

1. Remix - Listed 4:36. Actual 4:37.
2. LP Version - Listed 4:37. Actual 4:34.
3. Remix with Intro - Listed 4:30. Actual 4:52.

Note that these are the times (roughly) after removing
silence.

Despite only reaching No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100,
"Don't Take Away My Heaven" reached No. 37 on
Billboard Hot 100 Airplay in 1993. It also reached No.
4 AC. It was a staple on my local AC station, 98 WGRD
in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in which I remember hearing
both the "Remix" and "Remix with Intro" versions.
Those were the days when A&M loved remixing several
songs for radio.

Good tune. Besides the promo CD have any of the remixes appeared on CD or is it always the LP version that gets released?

I am not sure, Santi. Perhaps someone else would know? I
would imagine that all his compilations use the album
version of "Don't Take Away My Heaven", as A&M/Universal
usually drop the ball and feature the album versions
despite the hit versions being different mixes.

Thank you for taking the time to post the promo CD
single details, Jason. The LP version is what we
played constantly at WWLI/Providence. This is an
example where I find the "remix" and "remix with intro"
far superior.

The remix with intro (as the title suggests) has a nice
long intro for those chatterbox DJ's could talk up and
drop liners over. I believe the intro is too much of a
good thing though. I would have cut it down to 22
seconds before Aaron's vocal starts. Maybe that's what
they intended to do with the extra 22 seconds
discrepancy with the listed vs actual time. I guess
we'll never know what Arista was thinking.
