pat
any reason why this song isn't included in the db
it peaked at #20 on billboard in 1986
is this another example of your averaging system not including a song??

This is an oversight as "The Sun Always Shines On T.V." was definitely a consensus top 40 hit in all trade publications. I have added the song entry along with 1 cd entry. If anyone knows of this song appearing on other compilation cd's, please let me know so that I can add them to the data base.

I don't think the song has appeared on any domestic releases other than Hunting High And Low, although there was a CD single released in the '90s with both "Take On Me" and "The Sun Always Shines..." which contains the 45 version of "Sun." For anyone looking for the 45 version on an import compilation:
The Singles 1984-2004 (also titled The Definitive Singles Collection: 1984-2004) (4:42) (45 version)

Thanks to John, I can now confirm that the LP version CAN be edited down to match the 7" single.
I had to speed my LP version up 0.4% to match the single edit I was using as my template.
My file has 0.136 seconds of absolute silence to tape hiss, then the first note begins at 0.146. Hopefully that will help you "line up" my edits.
1:04 -- Remove 16 beats, starting on the snare on the "6." (7.572 seconds)
1:24 -- Remove 16 beats, starting on the first of two quick snares before the "HUH!" (7.572 seconds)
3:37 -- Remove 8 beats, starting on the snare on the "8." (3.785 seconds)
4:27 -- Remove 8 beats, jumping from the downbeat to the final note. (3.775 seconds)
After deleting silence at the beginning and end, tape hiss ran to 4:43 but actual music seemed to run out at 4:42.

Question. Does anyone know if the 4:30 single version on
the US promo 45 is a different edit than the 4:42
version showing up on compilation discs or does the 45
have the wrong run time listed on the label?

PromoJunkie, it IS a misprint; the correct time and length for the US promo is 4:42.
