Just checked the CD. The song starts cold, no fade in.

If you have the singles + import box set, the version on there is an edit of the lp version with a quick fade in. The 45 starts cold with no fade in and no hints of the instrumental part that is the first 45 seconds or so of the lp version (which can be heard for a few seconds in the intro of the Singles + edit). I guess it's good to know that the actual 45 version is available on cd...i believe the 45 also listed the time as 4:05 but i remember years ago timing it closer to 3:45 or so.

From the looks of it, Rick already has done that for us in this post. Ive also had someone else tell me a while ago that it was the correct 45 version if that means anything..

Where can you purchase these TL series?

eBay would be your best bet....unless you can order just specific cds from a time life website, which is unlikely.

I see that the 45 version is also available on "Time Life Classic Soft Rock: Into the Night" which was released in 2006. Do the newer T-L compliations suffer from the compression/maximization problems that plague most CDs from the last decade or so?

I have the the 45 version of "Your Wildest Dreams" on the Time-Life Rock Dreams CD set, which was released in 1993. Given the year, you'd think you could count on good audio levels on this compilation, but the bad news here is the audio on this CD is highly compressed!

Resurrecting this thread, this CD does not actually contain the correct 45 version. The song begins at the correct point (eliminating the synthesizer intro from the LP version), but there is a synthesizer note held over from the LP intro. The 45 starts without this note held over. It sounds like they just truncated the intro for this CD.

Can anyone confirm if the other CDs listed as "45 version" have this error, or are they the true 45 version?

Roscoe:

I can confirm the correct 45 intro of "Your Wildest Dreams" is on the Time-Life Rock Dreams CD set (Time-Life R105-40).

Is there possibly a dj edit for this song somewhere? I ask because the
single version is NOT what i heard on the radio in NY in the summer of
1986. Somewhere around the musical bridge, there was a definite
edit/restructuring. I tried to edit the single version to match what i
remember but it really can’t be done (at least not without a crossfade). I
was wondering if there’s an edit on a tm century disc....?

According to their database, TM Century issued the full-length album version on GoldDisc 103 and 555. I can dig out my CD of GoldDisc 103 to check for sure, but I'm pretty certain it's the LP version.
