Hi everyone :) New here :) Thanks for accepting me into this forum!
I'm organizing my Sheena Easton collection and I'm curious about the following 7" edits:

https://www.discogs.com/Sheena-Easton-Do-It-For-Love/release /2211401

- Can't Wait Till Tomorrow (3:50)(LP Version: 4:47)
- Do It For Love (3:47) (LP Version: 5:02)

https://www.discogs.com/Sheena-Easton-Swear/release/2389721

- Swear (7" Version) (3:35) (LP Version: 3:41)

I stumbled many times with 7" versions that are actually the LP versions, where most printed timings are wrong, so... curious to have further info about these particular ones.
Any help will be much appreciated :)
Best :)

Cristian

Welcome aboard to the board! You'll love the community that
Pat Downey has here.

Do It For Love (45 version) is available on World Of The
Singles Collection
.

Swear, with a run time of 3:39, is available on A
Private Heaven
. I'm not sure if there is a 45 vs. LP
difference.

I don't have Can't Wait Till Tomorrow.

Cristian, Welcome! "Can't Wait Till Tomorrow" is the b-side of "Do It For Love". Label says 3:50, but clocks in at
3:48.1 (close enuf) On the CD of 'Do You' on One Way 23568, it clocks in at 4:47.8 and no posted time in the
booklet. It also has a 'Dance Mix' as a bonus track. This also has no posted time, but clocks in at 5:19.7. I
haven't listened to the single in a while, but I remember it was missing the first 9 seconds of percussion.
Obviously, there must've been either another edit or an early fade, but it's been a while....-Bill

Hi Bill:) Thanks so much for confirming an official edit exists! That's a 7" single I'll have to order, then :) Yes, I have the "Dance Mix" as well as the One Way CD Edition :)
I only need info on "Swear" and I think I'll be done (though I'm having a really hard time finding the 7" for "To anyone" which features a Instrumental version - but other than that I'll be done with Sheena and move on with organizing other artists in my collection!).
Thanks a lot!

Cristian

The 'World Of Sheena Easton' CD states the run time of
'Swear' on the back as 3:57. I time it as 3:41.6 after
the silence has been trimmed. I timed my 45 RPM single,
and came up with 3:41.4, even though the label
says 3:35. I consider this the same as far as timing. The
label on the single doesn't say anything about
being re-mixed and I don't hear any mix differences. -
Bill.

What's up with these "edited versions"? A quick check
on Discogs shows all copies of "Modern Girl" to be
3:35 +/- a second or two. YCHBWM had a bit longer
range from ~3:45-just over 4:00.
Wasn't aware of any edits of either song, if these are
"edit-to-fit" (ala 70s vintage K-tel LPs) sounds like
a collection to avoid.

If you check Youtube, there's about a 10 second difference depending on the release (e.g. Modern Girl on 10 Best Series' Greatest Hits versus The World of Sheena Easton: The Singles Collection.
