Stock 45 states a running time of (3:59), but is actually (4:07). My promo has a listed time of (3:07) on both mono sides, but actually runs (3:17). Deadwax for both promo sides is A1-S1-S-T2-890MO3 M-1184.

So is the stock copy mono or stereo, Jim? I've always wondered.

Stock copy is mono, Brian, and features the large-amounts-of-surface-noise-due-to-low-quality-vinyl "April Showers Remix" (only kidding). Sure seems that way, though, especially with the stock 45's soft first part of the song. Mr. Gordy spared no expense on the promo, though - red vinyl, no doubt hoping lightning would strike twice (mining the Motown vaults), and that it would equal the #1 chart peak of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" just a year earlier. It didn't, but not a bad re-do IMHO.

I have the standard black vinyl promo 45 with the 3:59 mono mix and 5:03 stereo mix. Both sides are a little noisy.

Gary: I totally appreciate posts like yours - made my day - I never knew a (5:03) stereo mix ever appeared on a promo 45. Pat's book is second to none in documenting DJ edits, but none of us can either have, or know, 100% of the scoop on 100% of the promos. This Board's got a lot of combined knowledge. In time, we should hopefully be able to make Pat's book almost bulletproof for this kind of stuff.

Matt, we've had a previous topic posting for this song, so I'm bringing it up to the top for you.

Thank you. I used the search feature twice before starting a thread and for some reason this did not come up.

I apologize for starting a second thread.

Mono/Stereo mix differences aside, does anyone happen to know where the edit points (if any) occur on the single version?

Especially since there were sometimes multiple promo singles issued.
