I don't have this single and can't find anything on YouTube.
The official non-remix version versions seem to be:
• Edit of LP Version ("4:30")
• LP Version (fades vary, 6:14 to 6:17) ("6:18")
There's also the 12" remixes:
• Extended Remix ("6:46")
• Dub Version ("6:55")
• Instrumental ("5:11")
• Bonus Beats ("5:17")
The 45s in Discogs & 45cat all say 4:30 and 'Edit of LP 60775 - "Joy"' so I assume they're all Edit of LP Version.
Billboard Hot R&B Hits 1988 contains what I assume is Edit of LP Version. It runs 4:29½ and the percussion-only intro runs 8 seconds.
However, Hitmakers Top 40 CD Sampler vol. 6 - May 27, 1988 contains a 4:24 edit with more reverb (mainly on the right) and the percussion intro is trimmed down to 4 seconds. It is not based on the Extended Remix. Anyone know the origin of this mix? Was it released on a single?

As Aaron has been mentioning lately, TM Century has a method alternate to standard timing in their printed times for songs. I see two issues of GoldDisc that states 4:15,
which could end up being 4:30 to the full fade-out. Neither issue mentions "Edit of LP version." 1749-R and 4110N.
I haven't sampled these versions to see if they are the same as the Hitmakers versions.

The Hitmakers version is also a way different edit than
the 45 version as it eliminates that Teddy talking to his
friend chit in the intro ("... Boy this thing is bad..)
that CHR hated at that time in history. I suspect that
the Elektra Top-40 promotions department simply told
programmers the best version is on that Hitmakers disc,
rather than press up a new promo 45 or manufacture a
promo CD.
