I wanted to get a feel and create a list for reference of 1990-1994 hits that never charted on The Hot 100, the bubbling under or are listed in Whitburn's Pop Annual incorporation of the decade.

An example would be Live - Pain Lies On The Riverside. Huge Alternative hit but a very well known song by many of us.

The Live version in 1994 of Hotel California would be another. Never charted, but got huge airplay.

Another example would be Rush - Cold Fire. Heard this on alternative stations, no single was put out but the cut was played a lot in 1993.

If anyone can give me examples much appreciated. I know some Billy Joel songs off River of Dreams were played (Shades of Grey, No Man's Land) but don't recall.

Any help is appreciated. Remember if charted on the Hot 100, listed in the annual (airplay) or was a bubbling under then I got it covered already. Thanks in advance!

The closest analog to the bubbling under chart for 1990-
1992 was the "new & noteworthy" section of Radio & Records'
CHR coverage which listed any song that showed on 10 or
more radio station playlists. There were numerous songs
that never hit the Hot 100 that showed up there during this
time period.

That's a good idea to check airplay charts as well in the
90's. There are several songs that come to mind that did
not chart due to BB rules at that time. Pearl Jam's Black
was big airplay hit. There a few Backstreet Boys songs
later in the 90's that were major airplay hits but did not
chart on the hot 100 because there wasn't an official US
release.
