Hi guys, how are you? I was looking for a post related to
this but I didn't find anything, so I kind of ask
now.
I always had doubts about Madonna's single "Music",
that's why I consult:
There are several edit and remix versions, but my query
is for the Hit Version.
I have the album version with a duration of 3:45 (GHV2),
then a version identical to the album version with
the edited intro (without the voice at the beginning),
with a duration of 3:38 from an unknown source and
finally the one included in Promo Only Mainstream Radio:
August 2000, no description, with full intro and
running at 3:28, can someone shed some light on this?.
Thanks in advance

I know I only ever heard the 3:38 version on the radio, so that's what I would say is the "hit" version. When I bought the commercial CD
Single and heard the voice in the beginning, I thought it was some kind of error.

Was the 3:38 version (with the vocal intro omitted) ever an
official release? I went searching through Discogs and the
only release I could find was the 3:44 album version.
Perhaps, back in 2000, radio stations cued past the vocal
intro and started the song at 3:38.

The only thing I could find on discogs similar to the file
with a duration of 3:38 is this cd from WoW! Promotions. I
don't have these cds, so I can't tell if it's the version
without a spoken intro.

That promo CD lists MUSIC as having a :00 intro which means
it would start with the vocal intro (I presume.) Probably
the 3:38 listed time is them fading it 6 or 7 seconds early
(if it runs 3:38 on that promo CD.)

FYI I never heard nor considered the 3:28 promo only version to be an official authored release (no promo CD has it and in the early 2000's those promo CD's were the definitive place to get those edits).
Further if I recall that Promo Only version is lossy as well....

After a few months I got a copy of the WoW! Promos – W-06
and I can tell that the "music" version includes the
spoken intro and runs at 3:41.

It sounds like the voice was on the beginning of all of the releases, but I never heard a radio station play the intro. All of them that I heard queued past it and started with the downbeat.

Never heard the intro voice either. I confirm.

I have a very vivid recollection of hearing this song for the first time on some radio station in New England while riding back from a visit to Rye
Beach. The DJ said something like "we now have the world premiere of Madonna's new song "Music..." and then a pre-recorded message from Madonna
introducing the song came on (wherein she mentioned that her co-producer was "the sh*t", which was bleeped). Was this message sent out to a lot of
stations? Has anyone else heard it?

To LunarLaugh:
I definitely remember the snippet in which Madonna was
complimenting her co-producer Mirwais as "the sh*t".
However, I don't recall hearing it played right before
the song on my local CHR station.
I don't remember if I heard it on TV or YouTube or where.
I just know that I heard her hype of the collaboration
"make the rounds".
