I'm a little unclear on the releases of Billy Idol's "Catch My Fall" in 1984.
Discogs shows the LP version from Rebel Yell as running 3:57.
The single sometimes shows Special Remix / Remixed especially for Album Radio, and lists a time of 3:43.
Finally is the 1988 "Remix Fix" which lists a time of 5:11.
In my library, I have two, 3:43 files that are different. Both start with synth chords, but one has the drum beat immediately while the other delays the drums kicking in until 8 seconds in.
Did the LP have two different versions over time, or is the time wrong on Discogs (or the label)?
Which version was the "single" or "promo" version?

I see the LP version listed at 3:57 everywhere, but I can
only find a ~ 3:42 length. Even a YouTube video that shows
the "Rebel Yell" LP version playing (assuming that it is
real) clocks in around 3:42.
The single/promo version is the "Special Remix", which was
mixed by Mick Guzauski and Keith Forsey. This is the
version that, as you pointed out, begins with the drum beat
immediately. It was used in the official promo video as
well. The LP version is the version with the drums kicking
in at about 8 seconds.

I'd forgotten about this song. I found the 45 version on
Qobuz on 1980s Soft Rock For Kids.

You're welcome, Gene. This has always been one of my
favorite songs, especially the "Special Remix" (45
version).
FYI. The 45 version is on Billy Idol import CD compilations
"Idol Songs - 11 of the Best" (1988), which was reissued in
2003 as "The Essential", and "Essential" (2011). His U.S.
compilations seem to always feature the LP version.
