The printed run time on commercial 45 copies of Bob Dylan's "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" is 2:26, but I believe the actual run time is closer to 2:30. Can anyone confirm the actual commercial 45 run time?

I have a promotional copy of the 45 on black vinyl. If no one else confirms it by the time I dig it out tomorrow afternoon, I will be able to time it for you.

The label time on my promo is also 2:26, matrix JZSP 113564-2A and it times out to 2:26.

Thanks for verifying the run time on your promo 45, Tom. However, I have a custom edit of what's alleged to be the commercial 45 of "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" and it runs 2:30. For database purposes, can anyone confirm if the commercial 45 does run slightly longer than the promo 45?

I believe the 45 version is sped up slightly (it seemed a little fast when i was playing it to check the time), and therefor your copy must be running at the lp speed....but since the version you have is a custom edit, i would trust how my 45 states and plays.....

Todd, upon both listening to and timing my commercial 45, Tom's point about the 45 being sped up is absolutely correct. My commercial 45 deadwax info is the same as Tom's promo 45 above. I might even say it actually times in at (2:25), as opposed to the listed (2:26), but why quibble?

To be fair, when I timed mine, i recorded it to Adobe Audition, then I listened very closely for the full fade, even doing some noise reduction to make sure i was only hearing the song, and from beginning to end, I timed it at aproximately 2:25.780. I used a Stanton Str8-80 direct drive turntable to time it, so it should be pretty dead-on accurate...

It has been confirmed that the custom edit I have of "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" is indeed based on the LP speed. Thanks, Tom and Jim, for your input on the DJ and commercial 45 run times.
