PS I'm surprised Rhino waited this long and didn't put out the '00s boxed set around 2010 or '11.

Also, we're only about a year away from the '10s decade being over (gosh, as I write that, I can't believe that's the case), so I wonder if Rhino will do a '10s boxed set shortly after the decade ends or also wait about a decade.

It's obvious why the '70s boxed set came out many years after the decade ended, but there's no real good reason why the '00s one had to take this long. Maybe Rhino thought it would have more of a "nostalgic" value if they waited 9 years. Still, with the way the CD boom has been un-booming, and while there seems to be less interest in buying CDs, or in this case, even digital music (when streaming is free), I think they would have been wiser to put out the '00s box set in 2010, and not when it's nearly 2019.

I believe it to be a race between the end of the decade and the next Drake album to hold the Hot 100 hostage. You decide which will come first....

Yep, that was exactly my point made above. This box set is less "pop culture" and more obscure indie and alternative.

I wouldn't expect much to be released that were huge hits for those 10 years considering. That is why they went with a lot of indie and alternative. Even the 90's one was okay.
